Bowel Gas
An artifact is seen over the L2 vertebral body on the Hologic DXA scan.
The single energy view shows that the internal artifact is bowel gas.
Case Description:
The DXA image shows what appears to be an artifact ove L2.on a Hologic lumbar spine image. The single energy images proves that the internal artifact is bowel gas. The single energy view is a Hologic-specific view that looks like a traditional radiograph, since the image is single energy. Bowel gas will be a potential source of an internal artifact in most patients. and bowel gas patterns will be different between baseline and follow-up studies.
