Comments: Initially, all vertebrae were excluded because of focal structural anomalies. However, review of lumbar spine films demonstrated no abnormalities aside from L3 inferior endplate sclerosis and L3-4 facet osteoarthritis. Apparent anomalies were related to excess contrast used during DXA analysis. Interpreters should note that some technologists may alter the image contrast to assist them with analysis. Doing so may produce the appearance of focal structural anomalies.
